Man hacks estranged wife with machete, blows self with a shotgun

A Chimanimani man went berserk on Sunday and attacked his former wife with a machete before he shot himself with a shotgun on the chin and died on the spot.

Local police confirmed the incident, saying investigations were in progress.

Sources said the deceased, Bernia Chikwindi, 42, of Chief Mutambara area had marital problems with wife, Moreblessing Mutakura, 29 and they separated sometime in June this year.

Mutakura then returned to her parents` home which is located some two kilometres from Chikwindi`s homestead.
