NEW: Top achievers to receive awards in Mash Central

LOCAL authority officials, business leaders, artists and other top achievers in various fields will receive accolades at the end of year Mashonaland Central Achievers Awards, to be held in Bindura on Saturday.

The red-carpet event will take place at the picturesque Kangara Resort Acadia Dam.

In an interview with The Sunday Mail Online, co-founder of the Mash Central Achievers Awards, Mr Umtali Saidi, said the awards seek to recognise contributions of individuals and organisations to the socio-economic progress of the province.

'The achievers will be selected in the categories of agriculture, rural community and urban development, arts, voluntary community service, mining, education, tourism and agriculture,' he said.

'It will be a way of endorsing people's abilities and rewarding their achievements, taking into consideration particular projects of person or groups.'

Mr Saidi said the event will also provide a platform to network.

Mashonaland province has produced some of Zimbabwe's finest sons and daughters in the fields of business, arts and sports.
